Warp
Moldex3D/Shell-Warp provides
users a simulation tool for thin-walled parts to analyze the
causes of shrinkage and warpage before the mold is built.
Moldex3D/Shell-Warp
helps users to predict the final part shape and investigate
the causes of warpage, such as unbalanced cooling, unbalanced
shrinkage, fiber orientation…etc. With Moldex3D/Shell-Warp,
users can easily control the part dimension and optimize part
and mold designs accordingly.
Capabilities
Moldex3D/Shell-Warp allows you to
| |
Predict final part shape
before actual molding |
| |
Predict sink marks |
| |
Evaluate unbalanced cooling effect |
| |
Evaluate material orientation effect |
|
Evaluate in-mold constraint effect |
|
Evaluate orientation induced
anisotropic material properties |
|
Query any two points to determine the
linear shrinkage ratio |
|
Define the reference plane for better
measurement of deflection |
|
Separate total displacement into
x-axis, y-axis, and z-axis displacements to show the
deformation in each direction |
|
Export warpage shape in STL format |
|
Export inverse warpage shape in STL
format |
|
Evaluate both single cavity and
multi-cavity molds |
|
Simulate multi-component molding process,
including insert molding and multi-shot sequential molding
(Moldex3D/Shell-MCM module is required) |
Features
| |
Part warpage analysis |
| |
 Calculate
final part shape due to material shrinkage due to the
temperature and pressure drop from the process settings
to room conditions |
 |
| |
Material anisotropic analysis |
| |
 Material
anisotropic characteristics are related to molding induced
material orientations |
| |
 Anisotropic
properties are calculated with the material orientation
tensors of Shell-Flow analysis or the fiber orientation
results from Shell-Fiber analysis |
|
 Anisotropic
properties are passed directly to advanced structure
CAE software for use in analyzing the part structure
(Moldex3D/Shell-I2 module is required) |
|
In-mold constraint effect
analysis |
|
 Before
the part is ejected, the deformation of warpage has
been developed inside the mold. However, it can not
shrink and deform freely due to constraints by the rigid
mold |
| |
Calculate
the in-mold constraint induced part warpage to enhance
the analysis accuracy |
|
Sink mark analysis |
